A 59-year-old man is in the cardiac surgery ICU 5 hours after replacement of his aortic valve because of aortic stenosis:
Diagnosis
- Atrial fibrillation with AV dissociation – Accelerated idioventricular rhythm, rate 73/min
- Consider the possibility of complete heart block

The condition of the patient remains stable. This ECG is recorded 12 hours after ECG 1:

- Sinus tachycardia with complete heart block and escape accelerated idioventricular rhythm.
- Ventricular rate 74/min – Atrial rate 130/min
