Case 25: A 58-Year-Old Woman with Recent Onset of Angina

A 58-year-old diabetic hypertensive woman is admitted with a one-day history of episodes of retrosternal chest pain at rest and with mild exercise:
Diagnosis
- Sinus bradycardia, 50/min
- ST and T wave abnormality, consider anterior ischemia
On admission there was elevated troponin level suggesting of a non-ST elevation myocardial infarction. The patient had further brief episodes of chest pain, relieved by nitroglicerine. Coronary angiography demonstrated a 90% stenosis in the mid left anterior descending artery, near the origin of the diagonal branch. The patient underwent successful angioplasty and stenting of the mid segment of the LAD.
