Abbreviated PVCs, the QRS complexes are premature in relation to the basic rhythm and usually wide (>120ms). They are not preceded by P waves (or if preceded by a P wave, the PR is shorter than expected). If the basic rhythm is sinus, there is usually a full compensatory pause. If a compensatory pause does not occur, the PVCs are called ‘interpolated’.
